Hello
My name is Helen, and I run a home-based pet sitting business here in Oakville. For over two years, I’ve had the pleasure of caring for dogs and have built a small but wonderfully loyal client base. I’m excited to expand and look forward to welcoming new furry friends and their families in the months ahead.
The Dog Lady's Story
Two years ago, I experienced one of the most difficult days of my life I had to say goodbye to both of my beloved dogs on the same day. Our sweet Lady Sadie, at 19 years old, was losing the use of her hind legs. I scheduled her final vet appointment, and the day before, we opened our home so friends and family could visit, share memories, and celebrate her beautiful life. It was a day filled with love, stories, and photographs.

The next morning, as we prepared to take Sadie to the vet, I noticed that our other dog, Dottie, was in distress. We gently carried her to the truck, and after a quick examination, the veterinarian explained that Dottie had suffered a massive heart attack. The kindest, most compassionate choice we could make was to let her go peacefully. Dottie was my shadow, my inseparable companion, and losing both of our girls on the same day was truly heartbreaking.

In the months that followed, I felt a calling to open our home and hearts to our neighbors’ dogs by offering dog-sitting services. Word of mouth has been wonderful, and over the past year we have had the joy of welcoming more families and their pets than ever before.

What makes our service special is the level of care and companionship we provide. I work from home full time, and my husband, who retired early, is also home every day. This means your dog will always have company, attention, and care; they are never left alone.

Last summer, we had the pleasure of looking after a lovely King Charles Spaniel who stayed with us for eight weeks. He quickly became part of our family, even joining us on our annual camping trip. Experiences like these remind us why we love what we do. Every dog we care for brings new joy, personality, and love into our home.

In my professional life, I work as a Data Specialist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, focusing on projects that make meaningful, real-world impacts on our environment. I bring the same dedication and care to my work with animals as I do to my career because, for me, both are about making a positive difference.
